Being a parent is awesome! It is like a new gift every day and it all seems that Jonah plans, choreographs and performs these daily feats just so we will get a smile and a jolt of some serious oxytocin. He has managed to make every day feel like your favorite day. The kind of day that begins with a phone call that says, "Go back to sleep or just enjoy the morning cause work is starting late (or not at all) today." Crawling. This makes for a very happy boy. Jonah was beginning to get really frustrated when playing on his own because of the lack of mobility and his ability to fling his prefered toy far from his seated location. Now, he gets on his hands and knees, wigglesd his butt a bit to warm up and then heads off in any direction he chooses. What a happy boy.

X-mas, New Year's, Crawling, Other Stuff
Christmas with a child is so much fun. We went out and got a HUGE tree, filled it with ornaments and lights, and were pretty much as excited as we have been for a while for Christmas to come. I've heard it said that you really do experience things through your child's eyes, and that certainly was true for this holiday. New Year's was, of course, different. We tried our absolute hardest to make it..we watched movies, drank a couple beers, had the champagne ready to go in the fridge. But it was all for nothing. Our sorry asses ended up in bed by 11:15, the bottle of champagne is still in the 'fridge and glares at me menacingly each time I open the door. I understand; it didn't get to fulfill it's destiny. I feel slightly guilty. Some other mom friends have reassured me that it was New Year's somewhere, but I still feel lame. Merry Christmas from Jonah, Hallie and Michael
Our first Christmas as a family of three is pretty wonderful. We wrapped gifts for mommy early this morning. Then we hung out by the tree looking at the lights while eating some breakfast snacks. Next came the unwrapping of gifts. Jonah hasn't figured out that the gift is usually inside the box and is more excited by the box then the gift. We can only hope that continues throughout his life. Think of the savings. We are all enjoying the 1.5 week winter break together as a family and looking forward to all the new experiences, love and joy in 2008. Love, Hallie Michael Jonah
Nearing the End of the Gummy Smile
Jonah is on the verge of crawling. He can get from the seated position to crawl position. Hold it. Do a push up or two. Then collapse onto his belly and fuss until put back into seated position. He has two front teeth on the bottom which came almost at the same time. And now has two front teeth on the top that have broken through the gums and two more top teeth another day or two away from the same fate. Jonah has been a good sport about all the new sensations (read PAIN) this has brought. Here is a picture of Jonah with his evolving smile.

If I could draw a self portrait at this moment in time, I would look like one of those multi- limbed , about-to-kick-some-butt, get-out-of her-way, Hindu gods. Motherhood is the ultimate girl power, for sure, and I pity the fool who gets in my way!! ;)
