A Milestone

I have stopped breastfeeding Mae as of three days ago, and although I know it's time to give it up, I'm SUPER sad about it. It was starting to drive me totally nuts. But today I feel like I'm really loosing something. It is something that you share with your babies that is so special. I know that breastfeeding is symbolizing Mae's babyhood....breastfeeding is coming to an end, and so is her babyhood. And so are the years of having tiny kids. Just like everything is seems with parenting...you loose something, you gain something, you regret something, you are happy about something.

Happy Mother's Day

I was asking Jonah if he knew what the word "mother" meant. He said, "yes, it means your mommy." Then he said "it also means, Creature." Happy mother's day.

Just some cute photos

Mae makes a joke.

Mae has been walking for about a month now and likes it when you sit at her level while she walks around presenting gifts, offerings and food scraps to you. She brought a chip from off the floor well beyond the 5 second rule and brought to me as I sat on the floor in the kitchen. As I opened my mouth for the chip she snatched it away from me and laughed. She did this two more times. We laughed. She got close to my face and then ate the chip in front of me with a smile.

Wheels

A friend of ours was visiting with Jonah and asked: Brian: What has wheels? Jonah: My bicycle Brian: What else has wheels? Jonah: Another Bicycle. We had a good laugh but Brian, being a teacher by nature and profession, wasn't quite done with the lesson. He found a dirty yellow Tonka dump truck and brought it over. Brian: What things have wheels? Pause. Pointing at the dump truck. Brian: What about this? Jonah: No. This truck has 4 tires.

Jonah Turns 3 and Rocks Out

Grand Kids Say the Darndest Things by Grandpa Diltz

Michael and Hallie, I have to share a conversation that Jonah and I had yesterday. Jonah asked me again how I got my "OWIE" so I explained how I fell off the roof. Jonah said "That was a really bad idea Grandpa" followed by "I'll bet when you fell you said "OH SH!T!!" Every time I think of this conversation it puts a smile on my face. Dad/Grandpa

This is not just a photo of a pile of diapers...

It's freedom, my friends. Freedom from changing Jonah's diapers, anymore, ever. You guessed it, Jonah is potty trained. We still have the occasional accident, but he's got it down. Now we only have to change one kid's poopy diapers. Just for posterity, I took a photo of his very last pile of diapers. What a big, proud boy he is.

The bathroom is no longer a safe place

Image
Hide your toilet paper. Put your trash can at least 5 feet off the ground. Leave no towels on the racks. Little Mae, aka " Moo" ( more on that later) has become our little bathroom demon. Turn your back for one moment and she will decimate the place. We have included several pieces of photo evidence for your perusal . Oh, about the nick name "Moo". That would be a combination of "Mae" and "Poo" that was uttered by Michael as he entered the bathroom on night as Mae and Jonah were taking a bath. I will let you fill in the details. (ICK!)
